Light Up Fountain Square
Annual Tree Lighting, November 27, 2009
It’s not officially the holidays until the tree is lit on Fountain Square! Standing nearly 60 feet tall with 20,000 lights, this year’s tree will be the biggest and brightest. People will arrive early and stay late as Cincinnati officially welcomes the holiday season with "Light Up the Square," the annual lighting of the holiday tree on Fountain Square.
The tree will sparkle with 20,000 white lights and an illuminated, five-foot-tall red star. The tree in 2008 was the tallest holiday tree ever on the Square, measuring 60 feet tip to tip. Festivities begin on the Square at 6:30 p.m. and culminate with the tree lighting at 7 p.m. Fireworks follow the tree-lighting - and what’s a holiday kickoff without a visit from Santa Claus?
