Up until September 2004, KAO Brands US Headquarters was known as the Andrew Jergens Company, which was founded in 1882 as the Jergens Soap Company. Since its beginnings in 1882, The Jergens Soap company product line continued to grow, offering creams and lotions with Jergens lotion becoming one of the best selling hand lotions in the United States.

Other product lines were introduced by the Andrew Jergens Company such as anti-perspiration, bubble baths and complexion bars and had the tradition of quality and experience which were trusted and respected worldwide. During the late 1980’s, Kao Corporation of Japan was interested in expanding into the US Market and in 1988 acquired The Andrew Jergens Company.

While the Kao brand name was well known throughout all of Asia, Kao retained the Andrew Jergens Company name until 2004 when it became the KAO Brands Company. The KAO Brands Company name better reflects their position as a worldwide premium beauty company and today serves 54 markets worldwide with operations not only here in Cincinnati, but also in Europe, Australia and the Middle East.
